Athlete: Nicole Morgan
Achievement: Morgan placed second in the shot put (43-8 ) at the 5A State Meet
The Woodlands
SOFTBALL
Athlete: Paige McDuffee
Achievement: McDuffee fired a no-hitter, striking out eight, and added a single and an RBI in a 5-0 win over New Caney in the first game of a best-of-three Region II-5A quarterfinals playoff series. She followed up with a three-hit shutout, striking out eight more, in a 4-0 win and a sweep of the series over the District 14-5A foe.
Magnolia
BASEBALL
Athlete: Derek Barosh, Travis Lee, Duncan Wendel.
Achievement: Barosh fired a complete game, striking out eight, while Lee had three hits and four RBI and Wendel added three more hits, including a triple, and an RBI in a 9-4 area round playoff win over Little Cypress-Mauriceville.
SOFTBALL
Athlete: Katy Adair
Achievement: Adair threw a complete game and drove in a run with a single in a 2-1 win over Nederland in the first game of a Region III-4A quarterfinals playoff series, then fired a one-hitter in the third and deciding game, another 2-1 win. Adair struck out eight and carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning.
