Little League plans opening day festivities
ORWALL (Oak Ridge Woodlands Area Little League) will celebrate their 40th year of baseball when they host their annual opening day celebration on Saturday, Mar. 6, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The festivities kick off with a parade of teams, beginning at 8:30 a.m., and continue throughout the day with scheduled machine pitch tournaments in all age groups. This year's event will include a carnival with jump houses, a cakewalk, face painting, and games.
Also on-tap is a crawfish boil, barbeque, and a live DJ. One of the highlights of the day will be the raffle of items such as a new Mustang, a $1,000 Continental Airlines voucher, a $500 Market Street shopping spree, Astros tickets, and an Apple iPod Touch.
Raffle drawings will begin at 1 p.m., and tickets will be available at the event for $5 each. Plan to arrive early as last year's event saw over 6,000 visitors.
