AFJROTC sends team to academic bowl
This release comes from The Woodlands High School AFJROTC:
Six members of the Kitty Hawk Air Society from The Woodlands High School Air Force JROTC will be going to Washington DC in April to compete in the National JROTC Academic Bowl. These cadets began the competition in November, first earning a spot on the campus team, then moving from round one to finalists in round two. When round two was complete, only 16 teams from the original 196 were still in the running, with The Woodlands team being one of them. The following cadets will participate at the competition: David Chui, Anna Ciufo, Braden Walters, Austin Cantwell, Rob Owen and Connor Taylor.
In other KHAS news, the cadets gathered over 1800 books and magazines for donation to the Juvenile Detention Center in Houston. This donation will be used to kick off two new libraries in the new detention facility.
The Kitty Hawk Air Society is the National Academic Honor Society for Air Force JROTC. Only about one-third of the Air Force JROTC units nationwide have a Kitty Hawk chapter. Locally, cadets at TWHS set the criteria for Kitty Hawk, elect officers and conduct their own meetings. The cadets determine community service events, set goals for tutoring, provide tutoring for cadets in need and compete in academic components at drill meets.
