Memorial Hermann Hospital Treats Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber: Memorial Hermann The Woodlands

Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital hosted the Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber's Monthly Meeting, providing not only lunch, but a state of the hospital address by CEO, Steve Sanders. Sanders announced that the hospital had just achieved National ANCC Magnet Status for nursing care which is a best in class' status.
This accolade is added to the following list JCAHO Certified Primary Stroke Center, the only one in Montgomery County, ACoS BSCN Accredited Bariatric Surgical Center, and also most recently, Texas DS4S Designated Level 3 Trauma Center, the only one between The Woodlands and Dallas.
Addressing a capacity crowd, Neurosurgeon, Juan Ramon Ortega-Barnett, M.D., detailed the hospital's state-of-the-art technology for brain tumor management, image-guided brain surgery, and the management of cranial nerve disorders. In turn, Interventional Cardiologist, Gustavo Grieco, MC, FACC, spoke on technological advances in the field of cardiology and imparted information on healthy heart maintenance.
The public will be able to learn more about these topics at Memorial Hermann's Open House and Health Fair this Sunday, commemorating their 25th anniversary. On February 21, from 1-4 p.m., the public will be able to obtain free health screenings for glucose, cholesterol, stroke risk, carotid artery, blood pressure, and bone-heel density screenings in the spa-like Breast and Bone Center. (There are no appointments necessary for the screenings; all screenings will be performed on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies are depleted.)
Tours will be conducted of the Family Birth Center, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Pediatrics Unit, and the Cancer Center, in addition to a behind-the-scenes tour of an actual operating room. Technology demonstrations will be conducted for a variety of imaging tools including the da Vinci surgical robot. For the childrenTopper the Giraffe, the mascot from Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital, the canine stars of the Pet Visitation Program, the Children's Transport Team and pediatric ambulance, and definitely a must-see for the childrena Life Flight helicopter. Attendees will receive a gift, and be entered into a drawing for an Apple iPod Touch. The Open House will be held at 9250 Pinecroft Drive in The Woodlands, the location of the Hospital.
