Wassup in The Woodlands?

Wassup in The Woodlands? For starters, the artist community hosting their First Friday of the Month' art exhibits. At Mossrock Gallery & Fine Art Gallery on February 5th, from 7-9pm, Carrie Lee Allbritton will be exhibiting her mysterious and thought-provoking images layered in paint and texture. The artist deals mostly with pure color allowing viewers to bring their own thoughts, feelings and emotions into play. The following night February 6th, Good Books In The Woods will host a Comedy Night from 6 - 9pm. Three comedians have been lined up starting with Russell Simek who has performed in clubs all around Houston, including the Improv. He finished 3rd in the 2009 Houston's Funniest Person Contest. Next will be Nathan Hosey, also a professional comedian and veteran of the Houston club scene. Nathan finished 2nd in the 2009 Houston's Funniest Person Contest. Headlining the show is Edith Rattner who will be making her second appearance at Good Books In The Woods. Edith is 83 years old and has been aspiring to be a comedian her whole life. Her first at GBITW was a definite success. The show is rated PG or PG13 by Good Books In The Woods, and although the comedians shouldn't curse, the innuendo will be allowed. And if you really want to get down and dirty, Going Green' will be featuring How & Why Organic Methods Work So Well" by John Ferguson, on Monday, February 8, at 7pm at the Woodlands South Regional Library located at 2101 Lake Robbins Drive (next to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.) John Ferguson, who has an MS degree in Physics and Geology, is a licensed Soil Scientist in Texas. Ferguson has won many awards in horticulture and environmental issues, and his personal garden has been featured in several gardening books and in "Better Homes and Gardens" magazine. He is a long-time advocate of organic methods and a local entrepreneur. He also founded Nature's Way Resources, a Houston based composting and recycling company that specialize in high quality compost, mulch, and soil mixes. John's lectures on organic methods have helped many hundreds of people over the years adopt safer and more environmentally friendly practices. Then kick up your heels at Outback Western Wear in Market Street in The Woodlands, on February 10th, from 7-8:30pm, with a crash course in dancing titled Let's Rodeo."
