This release comes from The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau:
The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau will participate in one of the most prestigious gatherings of amateur soccer players during the 2010 Texas Rush Blue Chip Showcase, February 5 7, an event that provides players up to 19 years old with an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of college coaches from around the nation.
We are proud to partner with Rush to help showcase our community's finest young soccer talent. We realize how important it is provide coaches the opportunity to see the student athletes in action at high quality venues, such as The Woodlands. We are confident the results will be the recognition of many outstanding local soccer players that can contribute to very successful college programs," says John Powers, assistant general manager of community services at The Woodlands Township.
Held at the Carl Barton Sports Field in Conroe, the showcase is expected to attract more than 10,000 participants. In addition, organizers expect to fill approximately 12,000 hotel room nights in the area.
We're looking forward to hosting this event and others like it," says Nick Wolda, president of The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau. We're working aggressively to attract athletic events and tournaments to The Woodlands. The area's sports facilities, coupled with our affordable hotels and nearby shopping and entertainment venues make The Woodlands ideal for these types of gatherings."
Most recently, The Woodlands hosted the Nike South Cross Country Invitational and the Conference USA Cross Country Championship, the first time The Woodlands has hosted a collegiate competition.
The key to a tournament's success is the partnership we develop with the CVB," says Texas Rush Tournament Director Scott Dymond. The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau have great relationships with the facility, hotels, restaurants and city officials and serve as our liaisons with all the local entities," he adds.
