Marley and Corporal John McPhillips with Marley and her Olympic awards

Marley lived an honorable life, protecting the students of Conroe ISD, being on her best behavior while hosting high profile leaders such as both Bush presidents and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Richard Myers, and winning three bronze, four silver and one gold award during two stints in the national K-9 Olympics.
Marley, a German shepherd, served the Conroe ISD Police Department for more than seven years.
She died recently after becoming ill. Marley was 11.
Her handler Cpl. John McPhillips said citizens and local businesses have donated to the Conroe Area Optimist Club, which assisted with the purchase of Marley and will do the same for her upcoming replacement.
