St. Luke's Lakeside Hospital announces cervical spine implant surgery
Dr. J. Michael Graham and St. Luke's Lakeside Hospital were the first in Texas to perform innovative cervical spine implant surgical procedure utilizing the SECURE-C Cervical Artificial Disc.
On December 3, 2012, Dr. Graham surgically implanted the SECURE-C Cervical Artificial Disc, a motion-sparing technology designed as an alternative to fusion, in a 55-year-old patient. The new cutting-edge artificial disc produces the most natural range of motion for the patient as it simulates the natural movement of a spinal disc in the neck, therefore improving mobility. At the time of this landmark procedure, Dr. Graham was the first surgeon in Texas to offer this newly designed and FDA-approved alternative to fusion, and St. Luke's Lakeside Hospital remains the only facility in Southeast Texas that offers the surgical procedure using the SECURE-C Cervical Artificial Disc.
The announcement was made Wednesday, Feb. 6.
