Karen Hoylman, president and CEO of The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce, has been named one of Houston's 50 Most Influential Women of 2012 by Houston Woman Magazine.

All honorees, according to a chamber press release, were nominated by subscribers of the magazine and then selected by the publication's staff.

"I am honored to be selected as one of this year's winners," said Hoylman, in the release. "It shows that The Woodlands is an important and influential part of the Houston area. It is nice to be recognized for our accomplishments."

Hoylman has led the chamber since 1996, replacing U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady. The chamber has more than 2,000 members representing companies and organizations in The Woodlands, South Montgomery County and North Harris County. It also represents companies from Conroe, Greenspoint, Galleria and the Greater Houston area.

According to Beverly Denver, publisher of Houston Woman Magazine, honorees are selected for being individuals with vast networks of social and professional connections who have had influence in the community and their fields of endeavor.

Hoylman helped launch The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Woodlands Area Film Commission, Leadership Montgomery County, the Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership and Education for Tomorrow Alliance. She was a marketing and accounting major at the University of Tulsa.

Hoylman and her husband, Rhese, have two sons and six grandchildren.

The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce is at 1400 Woodloch Forest Drive, No. 300, The Woodlands.
