The Woodlands athletes in action: Women's basketball
The following women's basketball player with a high school tie to The Woodlands has scheduled action this week:
Britni Martin, Sam Houston State University
High school: Conroe
This week: Saturday, Jan. 19 vs. Oral Roberts University
About Martin: The 2009 graduate of Conroe High School was an all-greater Houston and all-district player on the basketball court for coach Deidre Hinze. As a senior (2008-2009), Martin averaged 17.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. She was a McDonald's All-American candidate. She was also one of the top scorers in the 2008 Texas Girls Basketball Association All-Star Game. The Conroe native was a three-time all-district selection. As a freshman (2005-2006), she was the district's newcomer of the year. A member of the National Honor Society, Martin was a four-time academic all-district honoree. She also earned all-district honors on the soccer field.
