The Woodlands grad Carr contributes to VMI victory
The Woodlands High School graduate Joe Carr scored two points as Virginia Military Institute won 76-57 at home over conference rival Campbell Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Cameron Hall in Lexington, Va., the VMI website reported.
The Virginia Military Institute senior guard also recorded one rebound and grabbed a steal for the Keydets, who improved to 9-7 on the season and 4-0 in the Big South Conference.
VMI's next game is 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 on the road against Coastal Carolina.
Carr played Woodlands Christian Academy basketball in 2006-2009 leading them to the TAPPS State Championship his junior and senior year. He was also named District Player of the Year for two seasons while also earning all-state honors for three consecutive seasons. In addition to playing for Woodlands Christian Academy, Carr was selected to play in the Canary Island Internatinal Basketball Tournament; he played against teams from Spain and the Canary Islands. Team captain and Montgomery County Player of the Year (two seasons), he was also a finalist for the Conroe Rotary Club Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
