The Woodlands grad Carr scores 3 points in VMI win over Liberty
Joe Carr, a graduate of The Woodlands Christian Academy, is a senior guard for the Virginia Military Institute men's basketball team.
The Woodlands High School graduate Joe Carr contributed three points in Virginia Military Institute's 82-69 home win over conference rival Liberty on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Cameron Hall in Lexington, Va., the Virginia Military Institute website reported.
The Virginia Military Institute senior guard also recorded one rebound for the Keydets, who improved to 7-7 on the season and 2-0 in the Big South Conference.
Virginia Military Institute's next game is 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at home against Winthrop University.
Carr played Woodlands Christian Academy basketball in 2006-2009, leading them to the TAPPS State Championship his junior and senior year. He was named District Player of the Year for two seasons while also earning all-state honors for three consecutive seasons. In addition to playing for Woodlands Christian Academy, Carr was selected to play in the Canary Island International Basketball Tournament; he played against teams from Spain and the Canary Islands. Team captain and Montgomery County Player of the Year (two seasons), he was also a finalist for the Conroe Rotary Club Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
