Dalthorp wins 2012 golf championship
James Dalthorp, a local resident, recently won the third annual The Woodlands Golf Championship tournament held at The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course and The Club at Carlton Woods Fazio Course, respectively.
According to a press release, the 25-year-old finished the 36-hole tournament presented by Richie’s Specialty Pharmacy, with a score of 149, defeating his competitor Eric Abraham by three strokes. Dalthorp’s name will be engraved on the Tiffany and Co. Community Cup, set to be displayed at both golf courses next year.
“Winning just feels incredible,” Dalthorp said in the release. “The staff and family at Carlton Woods are very dear to me, and to win on the Fazio course is very special.”
Proceeds from the event will benefit Interfaith of The Woodlands, a nonprofit organization providing programs and services to residents in The Woodlands and the surrounding area.
Woodlands rink frequent skater card is back
The Woodlands Ice Rink has announced the return of the frequent skater card, thanks to the sponsorship of Hubbell and Hudson Market and Bistro.
The card earns each skater a free session for every four paid skates at the rink. Cardholders will also be given a free hot chocolate or cookie at the Hubbell and Hudson Market through Monday, Jan. 21, according to a press release.
The bistro is presenting the skater card in celebration of its second anniversary in business at the corner of Lake Robbins and Six Pines drives, The Woodlands.
The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center is open daily through Jan. 21. Weekday tickets are $9.50 for adults and $5 for children 5 and younger. Weekend tickets are $10.50 for adults and $6 for children 5 or younger. Skate rentals are included in the ticket price.

Donations sought for new safe house
Mission at Serenity Ranch is seeking donations for its new safe house.
According to a press release from Mission at Serenity Ranch, “the home is being renovated to provide a long-term residential restoration program in the Greater Houston area for adult American women who are survivors of sex trafficking or forced prostitution.”
Mission at Serenity Ranch is seeking nightstands, lamps for bedsides, student desks, six bar stools, kitchen and bathroom items, housing decor laptops, women’s bicycles, wireless printers, exercise equipment, clothes and personal hygiene items.

Foundation grants awarded to area nonprofits
The Montgomery County Community Foundation recently awarded a total of $108,400 in grants to 28 nonprofit agencies dedicated to improving the lives of residents in Montgomery County.
According to a press release, the distributed grants come from permanently endowed charitable funds administered by the foundation.
