The Woodlands Christian Academy announces spelling bee winners

The Woodlands Christian Academy held its spelling bee on Thursday, Nov. 8.

Students in first through fifth grade participated, with the first- and second-place students from grades 3-5 earning spots in the ACSI district spelling bee in January.

Ben Butcher won from the third-grade class, and Joshua Phan placed second. In the fourth grade, Andrew Forbes finished first and Kate Kenisky took second. Joshua Sweeney placed first in the fifth grade and Nicholas Bryngelson took second. The first-grade winner was Madeline Phan, and Seth Culberson finished first from the second-grade class.

Other first-grade participants included Mario Awasum, Sol Seabolt and Vanessa Yakunovich.

Second-grade participants included Evan Giacona, Davis Johnson, Sam McClure, Kailey Smith, Zach Turner and Katie Wise.

Participants from the third grade included Connor Barham, Ty Gravis, Isabella Krantzcke, Anne McCoy, Joshua Mortenson, Dominica Spahr, Nate Vander Pol and Will Williams.

Megan Hanigan, Reese Ray, Madison Schlagel and Tyler Van Horn were fourth-grade participants.

And Cannon Brand, Caleb Chappelle, Monet Guuilbeau, Olivia Knox and Carson McDonald were participants from the fifth grade.
