The Woodlands athletes in action: College basketball
The following men's basketball players, all with The Woodlands high school ties, have scheduled action this week:
Joe Carr, Virginia Military Institute

About Carr: Carr played Woodlands Christian Academy basketball in 2006-2009 leading them to the TAPPS State Championship his junior and senior year. He was also named District Player of the Year for two seasons while also earning all-state honors for three consecutive seasons. In addition to playing for Woodlands Christian Academy, Carr was selected to play in the Canary Island International Basketball Tournament; he played against teams from Spain and the Canary Islands. Team captain and Montgomery County Player of the Year (two seasons), he was also a finalist for the Conroe Rotary Club Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Grant Clark, Schreiner University

Evan Cooper, University of Hartford

About Cooper: Cooper is a freshman guard for University of Hartford.He is a 2012 graduate of College Park High School in The Woodlands where he was named The Courier's All-Montgomery County Player of the Year, and also earned the District 14-5A Most Valuable Player award and was named First Team All-District 14-4A, for scoring 75 points with four rebounds and three steals during his senior year. The international studies major is from Houston.
Wes Cole, University of Hartford

About Cole: Cole is a sophomore guard for University of Hartford.He is a 2011 graduate of The Woodlands High School, where he was first team 14-5A All-District selection as a junior and senior. He was Montgomery County offensive MVP as a senior, and also a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region and All-State honoree that season, when he scored 1,276 points. The insurance, finance major is from The Woodlands.
AJ Myres, Schreiner University

About Myres: Myres, a 5-foot-10 junior at Schreiner University, is a 2010 graduate of College Park High School. He is a native of The Woodlands.

About Bender: Bender is a sophomore forward for Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a 2011 graduate of College Park High School in The Woodlands. The chemical engineering and materials science and engineering major is from The Woodlands and is the son of William and Sophie Bender.
