Montgomery County Habitat for Humanity raised $20,000 during the recently held Rev It Up Road Rally Event.
According to a habitat for humanity release, 24 teams of motorists participated in the ride to raise money for the construction of an upcoming HHMC construction project. The funds raised from the event completed a $60,000 HHMC fundraiser for the inaugural Women Build project. Construction for the project is set to begin January 2013. The construction project is part of national Women Build Week for Habitat Humanity International. A dedication ceremony is set for Mother's Day weekend next year.
The Rev It Up Road Rally featured a two-hour, 46-mile route through Montgomery County. Pit stops included Market Street, Hubbell and Hudson, Woodforest Development, Cedar Creek Habitat neighborhood and Lone Star College Montgomery.
HHMC is a volunteer organization that provides housing for local families in need. The organization is affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International.
