Houston Chamber Choir presents 'Bach and All That Jazz'
Jazz pianist Paul English is performing "Bach and All That Jazz" with the Houston Chamber Choir Nov. 2-3.
The Houston Chamber Choir will present "Bach and All That Jazz," a performance that will feature the choir and jazz pianist Paul English.
According to a press release, the choir will perform Bach's motets, originally performed at funerals and representing the height of Baroque music. English and his jazz trio will improvise responses after each one.
"This is the most exciting performance challenge I have ever faced, and potentially the most gratifying," English said in the release.
The choir will perform "Singet dem Herrn," "Der Geist hilft" and "Jesu, meine Freude." Performances will be given at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Lone Star College's Montgomery Music Recital Hall, 3200 College Park Drive, The Woodlands, and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at St. Phillip Presbyterian Church, 4807 San Felipe, Houston.
