Christian Youth Theater to present 'The King and I' Oct. 25-28
The Christian Youth Theater will perform "The King and I" from Thursday, Oct. 25 to Sunday, Oct. 28.
"The King and I" takes place in 1862 and tells the story of Anna Leonewens, who travels to Thailand with her son to tutor the king's children.
The cast of the show is made entirely of students ages 8 to 18 from The Woodlands, Spring, Tomball, Montgomery, Conroe, Magnolia and surrounding areas. The production is of a higher quality than school plays and makes use of sets, props, lighting, sound effects and more, according to a CYT press release.
CYT is an after-school theater that trains children ages 4 to 18 in the theater. The first program opened in 1981 in San Diego and since then CYT has become the largest children's theater program in the country.
Tickets are $12 if purchased online, $15 at the door and $10 for 20 tickets or more.
If the number of tickets sold for the shows does not increase, the theater may be unable to hold all the shows it has planned.
Performances will be at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday; and 2 p.m. Sunday.
All performances will be at the Nancy Bock Center for the Performing Arts, 3800 S. Panther Creek, The Woodlands.
