Local graduate earns Women's Center scholarship
Joanne Tinnin, a local graduate, was one of 12 women awarded a scholarship from the Montgomery County Women's Center during its annual scholarship awards ceremony at Lone Star College on Sept. 12.
Tinnin earned the Scott and Steve Wolford Scholarship, and plans to study physical therapy at Lone Star College.
The Montgomery County Women's Center is a nonprofit, private organization that provides shelter, counseling and legal support services to victims and survivors of family violence, sexual assault, stalking and abuse. According to a press release, it awards the scholarships to help recipients move forward and build a better life after enduring domestic abuse.
