Executive Service Corps of Houston to host Leading Edge Luncheon
More than 200 consultants, clients and supporters are expected to attend this year's Leading Edge Luncheon on Sept. 18. The luncheon honors Houston volunteers and will be hosted by Executive Service Corps of Houston, which celebrated more than 4,000 consulting service hours in 2011. In addition to recognizing volunteers, the luncheon will also highlight Amazing Place, a day center that provides fellowship, memory care and wellness for adults, as Nonprofit of the Year. Stephen L. Klineberg will present the luncheon's keynote speech, titled "Houston's Changing Face." Since 1982, Klineberg, co-director of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research and a sociology professor at Rice University, has used the annual Kinder Houston Area Survey to track changes in the demographic patterns, economic outlooks, experiences and beliefs of Harris County residents. Honorees during the luncheon will include consultant Sally Diederich, who has served more than 500 hours and will be honored with the Volunteer Leader Award; Paul Cuneo, Burton Hering and Roger Rolke, who have contributed more than 300 hours; and Pete Berkowitz, A.J. Durrani, Marvin Kiel, Francis McGrath, Thomas McIntosh, Elmer Milz, John Reed, Milt Rose, Ronald Swofford, John Wagner Jr. and Hugh Williams, all who gave more than 100 hours of service. Since 1984, ESC of Houston has provided leadership and management consultant services for close to 1,000 nonprofits in Houston. For more information, visit eschouston.org or call 713-780-2208.
