Texas Department of State Health Services issues West Nile virus reminder
The Texas Department of State Health Services reminds residents that West Nile virus continues to be very high in the area.
The virus has been found in mosquitoes both in the day and during the night, although it is mostly found at night.
Montgomery County Precinct 3 continues to spray in areas where there are confirmed pools of West Nile mosquitoes. Follow-up testing has not seen a drop in disease activity in areas that have been sprayed, so residents should continue to be vigilant about taking personal protective measures.
The reduction, elimination or treatment of mosquito breeding areas is the best and most cost-effective technique for mosquito control, according to a release by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
