Conroe Woodlands College Park releases varsity football schedule

College Park High School has released its varsity football schedule for the upcoming season.

The Cavaliers, under the leadership of seventh-year head coach Richard Carson, will lean on the experience of its returning starters on defense to take it back to the playoffs. College Park made it to the post-season in 2011 but came up a touchdown short of beating eventual Class 5A Region II state champion, Dekaney High School, in the opening bi-district round.

The new season will begin with a home contest against Livingston High School at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Woodforest Bank Stadium, followed by road contests at Huntsville High School's Bowers Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, and at Katy Taylor High School's Rhodes Stadium at 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15.

Clear Brook High School will visit the Cavaliers for its final non-district game of the season at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20.

Following an open date the weekend of Sept. 28, District 14 games get underway when College Park hosts Conroe Oak Ridge High School at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5.

In the second half of the season, the Cavaliers will be the visiting team for four of its final five contests.

Week 7 will see the Cavs travel to Conroe High School's Moorhead Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, before hosting A&M Consolidated High School on a short week at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18.

College Park will be the visiting team for its final three contests when it travels to Lufkin High School's Abe Martin Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26; against Conroe The Woodlands High School at Woodforest Bank Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2; and in the regular-season finale at Bryan High School's Merrill Green Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9.

Should the Cavaliers reach the postseason, the first round of the 5A Region II Texas state playoffs would begin the weekend of Nov. 16.

College Park plays its home games on artificial turf at 9,600-seat Woodforest Bank Stadium, located at 19115 David Memorial Drive, in Shenandoah.
