SNAP to offer free spay, neuter, rabies clinics
The Spay and Neuter Assistance Program will offer free spaying and neutering, rabies vaccinations and Houston city licenses for dogs and cats to qualifying low-income guardians. The clinics will be offered from Friday, Aug. 17, through Sept. 28 at various locations throughout the Houston area. SNAP suggests clients arrive around 6 a.m. The SNAP advance team arrives at 6:30 a.m. and conducts a lottery to determine participants' place in line. The mobile clinic is scheduled to arrive around 8 a.m. Dogs must be restrained by a leash and cats must be kept in a carrier. Guardians are asked to refrain from feeding the animals after 10 p.m. the night before their visit. Rabies vaccinations will only be available to animals on the same day they are spayed or neutered. Dates and locations include: Friday, Aug. 17 at Petco, located at 210 E. FM 1960 and Highway 59. Monday, Aug. 20 at Petsmart, located at 5941 E. Sam Houston Parkway and Wallisville Road. Wednesday, Aug. 22 at the Sunnyside Multi-Service Center, located at 4605 Wilmington St. and Cullen Boulevard. Thursday, Aug. 23 at the Sam Houston Race Track's Entrance 4 on Fallbrook Drive. Friday, Aug. 24 at the Harris County Veterinary Public Health, located at 612 Canino Road. Wednesday, Aug. 29 at the Denver Harbor Multi-Service Center, located at 6402 Market St. Friday, Aug. 31 at the San Jacinto Community Center in the Highlands, located at 604 Highland Woods Drive. Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the West End Multi-Service Center, Lot B, located at 170 Heights Blvd. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Walmart, located at 13750 I-10 and Freeport Street. Thursday, Sept. 6 at Bayland Learning Center, located at 6400 Bissonnet St. and Hillcroft Avenue. Friday, Sept. 7 at Petco, located at 210 E. FM 1960 and Highway 59. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the Harris County Courthouse, located at 14350 Wallisville Road. Friday, Sept. 14 at the San Jacinto Community Center in Highlands, located at 604 Highland Woods Drive. Monday, Sept. 17 at Office Depot, located at 10724 Eastex Freeway and Little York Road. Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Magnolia Multi-Service Center, located at 7037 Capitol St. Thursday, Sept. 20 at Food Fair, located at 6470 W. Little York Road and Bingle Road. Friday, Sept. 21 at Petsmart, located at 104 FM 1960 and I-45. Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Petsmart, located at 5941 E. Sam Houston Parkway and Wallisville Road. Wednesday, Sept. 26 at the Denver Harbor Multi-Service Center, located at 6402 Market St. Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Sam Houston Race Track's Entrance 4 on Fallbrook Drive. Friday, Sept. 28 at the Harris County Veterinary Public Health, located at 612 Canino Road. Free veterinary services are only available to individuals who qualify for food stamps, TANF, Medicaid, Harris County Hospital District Gold Card, SSI/SSD, CHIP, free school lunches, major VA disability or Section 8 Housing.
