Scott Kidd announces candidacy for CISD school board
Scott Kidd, of The Woodlands, has announced his candidacy for Position 5 on the Conroe Independent School District board of education. Kidd is a resident of Montgomery County and a partner at the law firm Gauntt, Earl and Binney, LLP. Running with the slogan "Kidd for Kids," Kidd said he wants to ensure the school district achieves the highest expectations, efficiency in fiscal management, exemplary academic ratings and excellence in extracurricular performance, according to a press release. "I have always believed the best way to lead is by example," Kidd said in the release. "In these challenging times for public education, I want to help CISD continue to strive to be the best and become the example of excellence for school districts throughout Texas." Kidd grew up in Conroe and attended CISD schools. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and received his J.D. degree from Baylor School of Law. He is a board member for the Conroe Education Foundation and serves as a deacon, chairman of the youth committee and youth Bible study teacher at First Baptist Church of The Woodlands. Kidd has served on the board for the Montgomery County Community Foundation and the South Montgomery County YMCA. He has coached 30 teams and 250 youth in the local community. He is also involved with Royal Family Kids Camp, a camp for abused and neglected children. Kidd resides in The Woodlands with his wife Shannon and two children, Lorrin and Connor.
