Woodlands Kiwanis plans youth fishing tournament

The Woodlands Kiwanis Club will host its 29th annual youth fishing tournament on Saturday, Sept. 1 at Creekwood Park in The Woodlands.   Registration begins at 7 a.m., and the fishing tournament will start at 8 a.m. More than 200 young people, from toddlers to age 16, are expected to participate in the event, which is underwritten by the Kiwanis Club and several local businesses and organizations.    According to the press release, the event will include free food, free drinks and free bait. Participants are invited to bring their own rod and reel and a lawn chair. Trophies will be given to all attendees.   The Woodlands Kiwanis Club is an informal, collegial group that is part of Kiwanis International. Its mission is to serve the children of the world.   The club meets at 7 a.m. each Thursday for a breakfast meeting at the South County Community Center, located at 2235 Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands.    Active club participants include men and women from all walks of life and age groups, along with several community service-oriented teenagers from area high schools, according to the release.
