The Woodlands Mall and Because Art Matters will sponsor a Spotlight on the Arts Gallery Open House Preview.

The gallery will feature art created through community service organizations and educational organizations in the area, including Montgomery County Youth Services and the Children's Safe Harbor. Co-host Because Art Matters is part of The Woodlands Waterway Arts Council, a non-profit organization promoting area arts and culture.

Three murals will be displayed for several months in the Woodlands Mall adjacent to the Food Court on the second level. They were created by seniors at the Interfaith community of the Woodlands, youth from Tri-County Services, ORWALL baseball players and art students from the John Cooper School. Artist Vickie McMillan directed the mural production.

Many of the artists will be on hand to display their work at the Spotlight on the Arts Gallery event. The showing will be from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29 at the Woodlands Mall, located at 1201 Lake Woodlands Drive.
