Woodlands High School releases varsity football schedule
Woodlands High School has released its varsity football schedule for the upcoming season.
The Highlanders will have quite the exciting round of opponents this fall, beginning with the season opening contest against Dallas Skyline at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 at FC Dallas Stadium. These same two teams met in a regional final of 2011's state playoffs with Skyline pulling out a 35-31 victory.
A pair of tough non-district opponents will visit Woodforest Bank Stadium in Weeks 2 and 3 when Fort Bend Hightower, a state finalist runner-up in 2011, comes to town at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7; and when Katy, possibly the toughest of Woodlands' first set of opponents, according to a press release from the school, visits at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15.
Week 4 will have some international flair when the Highlanders host Mexico's Monterrey La Prepa at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21.
District 14 play begins in Week 5 for Woodlands when it travels to Conroe's Moorhead Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 showdown. College Station A and M Consolidated visits the Highlanders in Week 6 at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4.
Woodlands makes its final road trip of the regular season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 when they travel to Abe Martin Stadium to lock up with Lufkin.
Following a well-placed open date the weekend of Oct. 19, the Highlanders finish the regular season with three games at Woodforest Bank Stadium. Woodlands will be the home team against Bryan at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26; the visitor against College Park at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2; and will host Conroe Oak Ridge for Homecoming and Senior Night at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9.
Should the Highlanders once again qualify for the postseason, the first round of the 5A Texas playoffs would begin the weekend of Friday, Nov. 16.
Woodlands High School plays its home games at 19115 David Memorial Drive, in Shenandoah.
