South Montgomery County Friends of the Library to meet Aug. 13
Denton Florian, executive producer of the film "Sam Houston," will be the guest speaker at the general meeting of the South Montgomery County Friends of the Library at 2 p.m. Aug. 13 at the South Regional Library in The Woodlands.
Florian's presentation, titled "Why Sam Houston Matters," will include highlights from the film. The production was filmed in 31 locations in four states to document the life of Sam Houston. More than 200 historical re-enactors participated in the project, and nearly 300 archival images were restored for use on screen, according to a press release.
Florian brought together Houston scholars, Native Americans, writers and Houston descendants to present this comprehensive look at Sam Houston.
Florian has a degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. from Texas State University. He lives in Spring with his wife and two children.
The South Regional Library is located at 2101 Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands.
