Conroe ISD Child Nutrition Department receives awards
The Conroe Independent School District Child Nutrition Department received two gold awards for having more than 90 percent of its employees achieve TASN certification.
The department received the awards at the Texas Association of School Nutrition conference in Austin, held during the week of June 17.
Robyn Hughes, child nutrition assistant director, was recognized at the conference for Outstanding Nutrition Education Single Event, given to only one district in the state.
Hughes organized a districtwide student activity that promoted healthy eating and held a drawing for a laptop.
"We not only had an excellent audit review, but every employee also took ownership in attending the necessary training to be certified; therefore, they received the gold award. The bonus was the Outstanding Nutrition Education Single Event," said Deborah Zemanek, director of child nutrition, according to the press release.
