Hospital expansion meets community's health care needs

To meet the health care needs of a growing community, St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital (SLWH) recently opened its West Tower's fourth floor.

The new patient care area adds 30 single-bed rooms to the existing 154 patient rooms, bringing the total to 184, an increase in capacity of nearly 20 percent.

The expansion is wired with full telemetry capabilities, allowing staff to electronically monitor patients.

A second parking garage with 780 spaces also was added to the campus.

The tower will add an additional two floors by 2014.

"We are strategically responding to the rapid population growth in Montgomery and North Harris counties by increasing our patient care capacity and offering a higher level of medical services," said Debra F. Sukin, hospital CEO, according to a press release.

St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital is at 17200 St. Luke's Way.
