After several months of extensive renovations, The Woodlands Township has reopened Sawmill Park at 2200 Millpark Drive.

The park was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 30.

The 1.6-acre park, located in the village of Grogan's Mill, has several new amenities, including a sprayground, a fifth tennis court, tennis gazebo, expanded playground, an added climbing wall to the large pool, two new parking lots with additional pathways as well as basketball and volleyball courts.

"Sawmill Park is a village park where people can gather with family and friends for a variety of outdoor activities," said Chris Nunes, the township's parks and recreation director, in a press release. "This village concept extended to the input received from local residents, Hailey Elementary School and a funding partnership with the First Baptist Church of The Woodlands for a second parking lot to be added. I encourage residents to take advantage of the park's wonderful new amenities and improvements."

Originally opened in 1979, Sawmill Park was The Woodlands' second park.
