Woodlands Chamber welcomes 7 new board members

Michael Barnhill, Dawn Candy, Jeffrey L. Garrett, Debbie Kaschik, Jill Liccioni, Linda Manhardt Nelson and Don Stockton have been elected to The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for three-year terms that will start Sept. 1.

The new members were selected based on involvement in the chamber and the community, as well as leadership skills, potential and decision-making abilities.

The nominating team was led by past chairman Nina Marino and was comprised of nine chamber members.

"We are so pleased to have such a distinguished group of leaders who represent our business community," said Karen Hoylman, president and CEO of the chamber, in the press release. "We appreciate that they are willing to lend us their time and valuable expertise."

Barnhill is the director of economic development and real estate for Entergy Texas and vice chairman of Interfaith and its community clinic. He is on boards of The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership, Greater Conroe Economic Development Council and LMC. He is also a member of the governor's TexasOne Advisory Council.

Candy is the owner of I Promote You, a marketing consultant company for small- to medium-size businesses. She has 25 years of experience in sales and marketing and has been involved with the chamber for 14 years. Candy is also the co-founder and executive board member of the Greater Montgomery County Restaurant Association, president of the Business Women's Forum and director of the Montgomery County Food Bank.

Garrett is Chevron Phillips's assistant general counsel. He is a registered patent attorney and a registered professional engineer. Garrett was also the 2011 Pacesetter Chair of Montgomery County United Way.

Kaschik is the co-founder and president of The Woodlands Young Learners Academy and has 25 years of experience in education and financial industries. She has a master's degree in gifted and talented education and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Arkansas. She has teaching certifications in early childhood education, language and learning disabilities.

Liccioni is the general manager of Market Street —The Woodlands. She spent 10 years as general manager of The Woodlands Mall and has been active in The Woodlands business community for 14 years. Liccioni also serves on United Way's Executive Cabinet, Lone Star College Women's Advisory Council and The Woodlands CVB Marketing Committee.

Manhardt Nelson has been the director of business unity marketing for Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital for eight years. She has served as the health care team co-chair for the chamber since 2009 and participates on the legislative team. She is a 1999 graduate of Leadership Montgomery County, where she served as vice chair, board member and alumni chair. Manhardt has also been on United Way's Community Well-being Strategic Investment Panel and The Woodlands High School's Site-based Committee. She has been Republican Committee precinct chair and election judge and was on the Conroe Chamber board and Legislative Committee.

Stockton has been the superintendent of Conroe Independent School District since 2003. He has 26 years of experience in education and administration, having served as superintendent, assistant superintendent, principal, assistant principal, teacher and coach in CISD. Stockton also volunteers for the Junior Achievement Board of Southeast Texas, The Woodlands Chamber, Greater Conroe/Lake Conroe Area Chamber, Greater Conroe Economic Development Council, Education for Tomorrow Alliance, Montgomery County Food Bank, Montgomery County Public Health District Board, Assistance League of Montgomery County Advisory Board and Montgomery County United Way.
