Woodlands HS grad Paul Goldschmidt has monster day in Arizona win
Paul Goldschmidt, a 2006 Woodlands High School graduate, went 4-for-4 to help the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 9-3 victory against the Milwaukee Brewers in Major League Baseball action Friday, June 29.
For the game, Goldschmidt also homered, drove in three runs, scored twice and walked. On the season, the first baseman is batting .292, with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs.
Goldschmidt was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 49th round, 1,453rd overall, of the 2006 Major League Baseball draft, but opted to attend college at Texas State.
He was drafted in the eighth round, 246th overall, of the 2009 MLB draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. In 2010, his first full professional season, he was named MVP of the California League and the Diamondbacks Minor League Player of the Year after batting .314 with 42 doubles, three triples, 35 home runs and 108 RBIs for Vasalia.
