Red, Hot and Blue Festival announces entertainment lineup

The Red, Hot and Blue Festival will offer music and fireworks from 6-10 p.m. Wednesday, July 4 at Town Green Park and Waterway Square in The Woodlands.

Entertainment at Town Green Park will begin with The Fondue Monks. They will be followed by Fab 5, a Beatles cover band, at 8:15 p.m.

Town Green Park will also offer such activities as an obstacle course, moonwalk slide, a mechanical bull, a water slide and watermelon- and hot dog-eating contests. The winners of the University of Phoenix's “Little Firecracker” Essay Contest, for students age 5-18, will also be announced.

Festivities at Water Square will begin with the rock, country and blues music of Soulshine, followed by Cold Shot, a group that plays rock, pop and dance. Water Square will also host strolling entertainers, a balloon artist and vendor booths. The evening will wrap up with a 23-minute fireworks show.

Town Green Park is located at 2099 Lake Robbins Drive. Waterway Square is located at 31 Waterway Square Place.

Other events in The Woodlands this week include the Houston Symphony's "Star-Spangled Salute," beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 3 at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, 2005 Lake Robbins Drive; the South County Fourth of July parade will start at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 4 on Market Street; and the "Things That Go" bike parade and decorating contest for kids 14 and younger is set for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Northshore Park.
