Nominations open for Woodlands 'Hometown Hero'
Application forms for nominees of The Woodlands "2012 Hometown Hero" are now available and will be accepted through Aug. 17.
Forms may be picked up in "The Villager" newspaper; at The Woodlands Homefinder Center, located at 2000 Woodlands Parkway; or online at www.thewoodlands.net and www.woodlandsinterfaith.org.
The honor is given to four individuals, along with a local business, that citizens nominate based on both service as a role model for volunteer work along with a dedication to the community.
The 2012 Hometown Heroes will be inducted into the Hometown Heroes Hall of Fame at The Woodlands 2012 Celebration of Excellence gala on Oct. 6, benefiting Interfaith of The Woodlands.
An annual tradition since 1999, 84 local citizens and eight businesses have been selected for the honor so far.
The selection committee, a group of past Hometown Heroes, will choose the five honorees for 2012. Nominees must be current residents of The Woodlands or a businesses based in The Woodlands.
