Two St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School students have been awarded scholarships from the MGM Foundation.
Austin Brauweiler and Blake Perry have been awarded Don Hoyt Memorial Middle School Scholarships. Brauweiler received a $3,000 scholarship, and Perry earned a scholarship for $2,000. The scholarships were awarded for personal essays, titled, "What are your God-given talents, and how do you use them to make the world a better place?"
The scholarship was established in 2010 in memory of Don Hoyt, a devout Catholic and humanitarian. He and his wife, Jane, raised seven children and sent them to Catholic schools. According to the press release, Hoyt reflected his love of God and his Christianity in the way that he lived his life. The memorial scholarship essay contest is an annual tribute to his legacy of love and service.
