Blood donations sought
The Woodlands Community Advocates Linda Mallet, Robert Corzine and Josephine Lam spread the word about the need for blood donations at a community event. The Advocates' next blood drive is Saturday, July 7 at The Woodlands Neighborhood Donor Center.
The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, the primary blood providers to 26 counties in the Texas Gulf Coast region, has issued a call for blood donations this summer to meet a pressing need.
Area hospitals need more than 1,000 blood donations each day, though donations tend to drop during the summer as attention is redirected to vacations and summer activities for children.
A donation center, open six days a week, is located at The Woodlands Neighborhood Donor Center at 3091 College Park Drive, Suite 130. The Woodlands Community Advocates will host its next blood drive there from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 7. All donors will receive a free shirt.
