Local volunteer receives PIE Award at Conroe ISD board meeting
The Conroe Independent School District presented community volunteer Ed Thorney with the Patrons Influencing Education Award, as well as a freshly baked fruit pie, at its March board meeting.
Students and faculty members from Buckalew Elementary School nominated Thorney, who has worked with students from kindergarten through fourth grade for the past 11 years. He recently celebrated his 88th birthday.
