Registration open for governance forums
Two forums — one for the discussion of financial and governance analysis and and one for feedback on governance for The Woodlands Township — are being offered from 7-9 p.m. March 29 at The John Cooper School, 1 John Cooper Drive, and from 9-11 a.m. March 31 at The Woodlands Emergency Training Center, 16135 IH 45 S.
The meetings will allow residents of The Woodlands to examine the unique governance structure of the community and possibly overturn a 2007 approval that deemed The Woodlands a township rather than an incorporated municipality.
This could all change with the Regional Participation Agreements entered into the cities of Houston and Conroe that prevent the annexation of The Woodlands and allow residents to determine the future governance of the community for the next 50 years.
This RPA will give residents a chance to change their current governance structure and become a township after May 29, 2014.
The township’s board of directors is examining the effectiveness and financial aspects of the current governance so community members can determine what type of governance they want for the future of The Woodlands.
To register for the forums, visit thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov or contact Kim Cogburn at 281-210-3800. Registration is open until March 28.
Residents who cannot be in attendance can watch the video online in April and provide feedback.
