Cy-Fair health care center, Magnolia physician blamed for patient’s death

An estate is suing a Cy-Fair health care center and a Magnolia-area physician after, it says, inattentive and insensitive medical staff contributed to the death of a loved one.

Gina Lee, individually and on behalf of the deceased Joy Robinson, filed a lawsuit on Thursday, Feb. 23 in the Harris County District Court against Heartland Health Care Center at Willowbrook, of Cy-Fair, and Dr. Hunaid Dollar, of Magnolia, citing negligence.

Lee says on April 11, 2010, Joy Robinson, 63, died after receiving negligent medical treatment from the defendants. Dollar’s improper care of Robinson includes failing to properly treat a systemic infection and releasing her from the hospital after she fell and injured her head and ribs, according to the brief.

The suit further alleges that Heartland staff told Robinson’s family, “Your mom’s money ran out, so take her home” and that Robinson was “lazy and whiney.”

Lee is seeking damages and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Robert Painter.
