Magnolia West High School kids attend Family, Career and Community Leaders of America meeting
Magnolia West High School members of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America attended the Region IV FCCLA meeting in Galveston from Jan. 24 to Jan. 26.
Magnolia West High School members of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America attended the Region IV FCCLA meeting in Galveston from Jan. 24 to Jan. 26.
Lauren Roetzler presided as the regional president, and new officers were elected for the 2012-13 school year.
Roetzler also received a state office position, and Jessica Estrada will serve as the vice president of projects.
The MWHS students competed in STAR events (Students Taking Action with Recognition), which demonstrate achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills and career preparation. They received the following awards:
First place, Chapter Showcase Senior: Andrea Graham and Danielle Klein.
First place, Life Event Planning Senior: Jessica Lamas and Perla Gutierrez.
First place, National Programs in Action Senior: Michelle Cumberland and Amy Taylor.
First place, Interior Design Senior: Madi Poole.
First place, Chapter Showcase Occupational: Amber Provost and Savannah Phillips.
First place, Focus on Children Occupational: Ana Lopez and Catherine Arcaro.
Third place, Illustrated Talk Occupational: Brooke Leibig and Brianna McDaniel.
Second place, Chapter Service Senior: Ashley Barber, Ashley Djurick and Amanda Courtney.
Third place, Food Innovations Senior: Alex Posey, Brad Patton and Megan Forman.
