Woodland emergency room headquarters sued after drug accusations, termination

A nurse is suing a local emergency room after, she says, it fired her over a false drug diversion accusation.

Joyce E. Robinson filed a wrongful discharge suit on Dec. 22 in the Harris County District Court against her former employer Emerus 24 HR Emergency Room, with locations in Sugarland and Tomball its corporate office in The Woodlands.

Robinson says on Sept. 2, Emerus 24 HR Emergency Room wrongfully terminated her employment and reported false information about her to the Texas Board of Nursing. Her termination occurred after the company suspended her on false drug accusations, according to the brief.

The suit alleges on Aug. 21, company CEO Hamilton invited her to his home, after they had dinner out together, to discuss the suspension and an inconclusive video of the alleged event.

Robinson is seeking compensatory and exemplary damages, as well as court costs. She is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Gregg Rosenberg.
