YMCA names area volunteers of the year
Local YMCAs recently announced the recipients of their "Volunteer of the Year" awards.
South Montgomery County YMCA volunteer Catherine Irvin and Conroe YMCA volunteer Katie Barrett each were selected to receive the YMCA’s prestigious "Volunteer of the Year" award.
Irvin and Barrett were honored with this award because of their generous spirits, hard work and compassion for others, according to the press release.
Irvin, a Partners storyteller and volunteer, has served on the Montgomery County YMCA’s annual campaign with distinction since 2001 as campaigner, team captain and division leader.
Barrett, a volunteer with the Conroe YMCA Leap of Faith Equine Assisted Therapy Program, is working to earn her NARHA Certificate (North American Riding for the Handicapped) within the year.
