Toys for Tots holiday event gets under way

For the 15th consecutive year veteran Marines of Marine Corps League, the Montgomery County Libraries, and Salvation Army are joining to collect Toy for Tots" so needy children may have celebrate Christmas. The Toy for Tots" KICK-OFF will be held Monday, November 2, at 9:30 AM at the Montgomery County Central Library in Conroe. Local Marines who served during WWII, Korea Conflict, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan and who are involved in Toys for Tots" program will be there.
The Toys for Tots" train will be in the Central Library during the holidays beginning Nov. 2nd. The Toys for Tots" train, popular in parades throughout the County, is a symbol with words Toys for Tots" protected under U.S. and Texas Copyright laws and is the only authorized user of the Toys for Tots" trademark. The United States Marine Corps Reserves initialed the Toys for Tots" program 62 years ago in 1947.
"Last year, Montgomery County residents helped over 13,000 children have an unforgettable Christmas when the little ones received toys on Christmas day. There are safe convenient 'OFFICIAL COLLECTION CENTERS' located at all Montgomery County libraries in Conroe, Magnolia, Montgomery, New Caney, Willis, and The Woodlands. Other collection sites include The Woodlands Oriental Rug Gallery, the Portofino Shopping Center Merchants, Best Buy, Dollar General. Many local merchants, businesses, and real estate offices are active by allowing Marines to locate drop-off/collection boxes in their offices/stores," said Scott Bartholemew, Commandant of U.S. Marine Corps Eastex Detachment #779.
You can participate by donating new, unwrapped toys at any of these convenient sites in Montgomery County.
The last day for pickup will be Friday, December 11th when Marines from the Marine Corps League Eastex Detachment will pick-up the toys in Montgomery County and deliver them to the Salvation Army and Society of Samaritans for sorting and distribution before Christmas.
