Montgomery County detectives are investigating an early-morning homicide that occurred Monday during a home invasion in South County.
At approximately 2:12 a.m. Monday, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a home invasion on Ginger Trace Drive in the Legions Ranch Subdivision in South Montgomery County.
When deputies arrived they found that one victim had been killed and two others had been injured, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.
The victim, 34-year-old Lisa Lynette Whitt-Ulloa from Georgia, was found dead in her home and her 26-year-old-husband and 18-year-old daughter were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The 18-year-old victim, also from Georgia, had been visiting the family for the Christmas holidays. Whitt-Ulloa's 9-year-old son was not at home and had been spending the night with nearby relatives.
Detectives have begun the tedious task of examining evidence and conducting an investigation into the crime.
Major Crimes Detectives assisted by the Texas Rangers and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office have learned that two masked men entered the home through an unlocked door while the family was in the living area and using what could be baseball bats threatened, bound and assaulted the victims.
It is believed that robbery was the motive and at this time it has not been determined what if anything was removed from the home. A method of escape or vehicle information has not yet been determined.
The 18-year-old victim was able to free herself after the suspects fled and ran to a neighbor’s home to call for help. When deputies arrived both the 18-year-old and her step-father were waiting at the neighbor’s house. The homicide victim’s husband and daughter were injured, but are expected to be released from the hospital.
The victim and her husband had been married approximately 7 months and only recently moved into the home.
