Brittany studying in D.C.Competition was fierce during a recent nationwide Bible Bee contest in Washington D.C., and as a result, Montgomery resident Brittany Schlichter found herself in a four-way tiebreaker.
When it was her turn to recite scripture, in front of more than 1,000 spectators, there was some confusion when judges gave the 13-year-old Montgomery resident a passage that was not required to be memorized for the competition, said her mother Cheryl.
Once the error was cleared up, Brittany did not have any time to regroup before she was assigned Psalm 34 [1], Cheryl said.
Psalm 34 has long been one of Brittany's favorite passages, ever since she became a Christian at age 7.
But 17 verses into the 22-verse passage, she "went blank."
However, in the end, Brittany ranks fourth out of 100 competitors from across the nation in her age group of 11-14.
"It was a lot of fun," said Brittany, who is home-schooled. "I'm looking forward to competing next year."
