YMCA marks first anniversary of Creekside Center
published Jun. 20, 2011
The Creekside YMCA Outdoor Adventure Center recently celebrated its first anniversary.
The celebration included a breakfast reception and mascot party in conjunction with the opening day of YMCA Summer Day Camp.
The center was designed to reconnect kids and families with nature. The center features a 50-foot alpine tower for climbing, 30-foot giant swing, 12 themed tree houses, nine colorful tee-pees, archery range, hiking, misting station, outdoor chapel and amphitheater and a boardwalk system 8 to 20 feet off the ground. The centerpiece of the Creekside YMCA is the 14,000-square-foot lodge for indoor activities and group rentals.
Creekside YMCA is also the home for the South Montgomery County YMCA Summer Day Camp program for ages 5 to 11. Activities include canoeing, outdoor education, songs and skits, team building, swimming and special events. Registration is still available for the weekly sessions that meet Monday through Friday all summer long.
In addition to the summer camp program, the Creekside YMCA offers year-round programming and activities such as group exercise classes, family adventure days, family movie nights & campouts and outdoor education.
The Creekside YMCA is located at 6464 Creekside Forest Drive in Spring.
