Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon will feature a carnival atmosphere if a top sponsor shows up under the Big Top.: Kristy Villareal, the Chamber liaison for the Community Relations Team, is looking for a top sponsor to volunteer for the annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon which will feature a carnival atmosphere. The South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce will honor the community’s volunteers on April 19, at their annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. These are the individuals who give their time and talents to non-profit organizations to ensure that they are able to perpetuate their work to those in need. The luncheon is intended to be a party for these hard-working individuals, therefore, this year’s event will have a carnival atmosphere complete with a magician, caricature artist and a balloon creator.
To date, the volunteers have had no major sponsor volunteer for the $1000 top sponsorship level. Some sponsorship levels have been filled, many coming from the Chamber’s Community Relations Committee members …the volunteers themselves. The major sponsorship however…still no volunteer. It’s difficult to determine how many non-profits there are in the county as more than one will be seated at a table, but only 200 tickets will be distributed to the hardest working volunteers that the these non-profit organizations wish to recognize and show their appreciation. The actual number of volunteers throughout the county would be the size of a small army. Without the volunteer hours generated by this army, an even greater body of people would be severely impacted. The volunteers know and understand this, and realize the impact they make in the community. What the volunteers are having difficulty understanding is how the community they serve, doesn’t understand it.
The Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon will be held at The Woodlands United Methodist Church on April 19, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. If interested in showing appreciation for what these volunteers do by ‘volunteering’ to support them with a sponsorship, contact Kristy Villareal at the Chamber, 281-367-5777, or kristy.villa@woodlandschamber.org
