The Home Depot debuts line of eco-countertops at the
Eighth Annual Spring Home & Garden Show at The Woodlands
    Saturday and Sunday, March 27 & 28

The Home Depot booth at the Eighth Annual Spring Home & Garden Show at The Woodlands is sure to please all types. The show will feature the debut of Home Depot’s new line of eco-countertops made of recycled materials. Home Depot will also have on display the dramatic landscape-and-fountain-adorned pergola to decorate and shade your yard. And check out the sensible stand-by generators to power your home during emergencies.

The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center at 1601 Lake Robbins Drive will play host to the spring event, set for Saturday, March 27 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 28 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Robert Simmons, district services manager at Home Depot, said the pergola, which will make an eye-catching display, will not only feature beautiful landscaping and a fountain, but will also give show attendees several options for the type of pergola they would like to use in their own homes. “We’ll have three or four additions to the pergola so you can see all the different types we have,” he said.

There will also be several options to choose from in “green” countertops, which Simmons said are made of recycled glass and porcelain and feature environmentally friendly resin.

Attendees can browse all the different options outside the show where the inside of an 18 wheeler, the Estino Truck, will be staged to look like a home featuring countertop choices as well as options for backsplash, shower walls and floor materials.

Storage sheds and water-treatment systems will also be available to check out. Simmons said both products are important to attendees, particularly those living in The Woodlands, Conroe and Spring-Cypress areas.

“There is a lot of hard water in those areas,” he said. “Also we will have a model storage building that meets the rules of the homeowners associations in The Woodlands.”
Simmons said show attendees can enter into a giveaway to win a water-treatment system.

But perhaps one of the most interesting items on Home Depot’s display will be the stand-by generators. Simmons said many homeowners are interested in keeping their home’s power up and running during emergencies, namely hurricanes.

“The stand-by generator is wired into your home,” he said. “If the power goes off within 45 seconds the generator will kick in. You will never know the electricity was out, and then when the power is back on it will kick off automatically. There are no worries about it catching fire.”

And the convenience of the stand-by generator does not mean a sacrifice of aesthetics for your yard. “It’s in a really nice box on the side of your home,” Simmons said.

Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors, and 12 and under are admitted free. FREE covered parking provided in the Convention Center garage on Six Pines with walkway to the hotel. Valet parking is available at the Hotel entrance, just 100 feet from the Convention Center.
