College System plans April job fair event

This release comes from the Lone Star College System:

Lone Star College System is hosting a community-wide job fair on April 14 at the conference center at LSC-University Park.

This free job fair, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include a variety of employers from the northwest Houston area and is open to the community.

“We’re pleased to be able to host this event to benefit those in the area who may be looking for employment, as well as companies that need to fill positions,” said Julie Wilson, LSCS counselor and associate professor, who is helping to chair the event.

“This is a free event and we’re hopeful to be able to bring together employers and qualified candidates,” Wilson said.

This community-wide job fair is being hosted by LSCS Career Services Council and the LSCS Veterans Affairs Center. This event is in addition to the education job fair set for March 25 at M.O. Campbell Education Center, which is also being hosted by LSCS. Some of the employers who will be attending the event have expressed a commitment to hiring students or community members who are veterans.

The education job fair will focus on employment opportunities in the field of education, while this community wide job fair will not be limited to the field of education, but will include companies from many areas such as banking, recreational, oil, sales, business, law enforcement, civil service, insurance, health care, education and government industries, to name a few.

Officials said that those interested in attending the job fairs should dress professionally and should bring copies of their resumes.

“This is one that you don’t want to miss,” said Wilson.

Companies still have time to reserve a spot in the job fair, Wilson said, and should contact LSCS at cfcounseling@lonestar.edu or 281-290-3260.

For more information, go to LoneStar.edu/job-fairs. A list of attending employers will be provided on this site soon.
